Jerry Sims- "Russian Roulette"(Spring)

Not sure on the exact date for this one, possibly early 1970's. Pretty cool to see Spring records was based out of Modesto, CA.

Graham County

Graham County- "Colorado" b/w "Rocky Road" Kapp 1972

As per request I'm posting this country/rock 7" featuring Anne Murray and fellow Singalong Jubilee cast member Don Graham. There's not a whole lot about Graham County online, and most of it is an aside when talking about Anne Murray's career. I did find this recent interview with Don Graham though...check it out here

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas Bryan

Ed Wair

Ed Wair

"Here I Am In Mexico" & "Everday Of My Life" (Fairview)

Not a whole lot of information out there on Ed Wair. Google it and my radio show's playlist shows as the second hit. There seem to be a couple of these 45's out there for sale, but I still can't track down a year for this one. My guess would be mid-1970's. Anyway nice funky version of "Here I Am In Mexico" and the flip side he wrote himself.

Dee Mullins

Dee Mullins  - "I Am The Grass" & "War Babies"

from The Continuing Story (Plantation) 1969

Not the rarest country record in world, but it certainly ranks as a weird one. The "talk-box" like effect on both these tracks attest to that and it was this Dee Mullins record that first peaked my interest in the hidden gems of a traditional and conservative genre. Mullins had a long career before this release, excellent examples here, but its this record that has seen the most attention in recent years. I think there are a few reissues floating around, but I knwo the Omni Recording Company has put one out. If you haven't yet, check Omni out. They are reissuing some great material, like Nashville Sputnik- a collection on Jack Blanchard produced tracks that are about as strange as they come.

Ellie and Joanne

Ellie and Joanne  - "Broken Hearted Girl"

from My Heart's A Baby (Gene's Records) 1977

This is my first post....my first contribution to the ever amassing collection of personal interests made public.
I host a weekly radio show on KDVS 90.3fm Davis call Setting the Woods on Fire . Over the the past few months I've poured over ever Country/western/rockabilly blog I can find. The incredible wealth of music I found and the dedication to consistently post great material and information inspired me to begin sharing some of my own finds. Hope you all enjoy.

I picked up this copy of Ellie and Joanne's My Heart's A Baby a long time ago at a small record store in Sacramento. I've gotten a lot of great things there and it's been nice to come back month after month and find the Country section pretty much untouched. I must have looked at this record a good 6 months before buying it. This might have been because the album's really mellow. It dosen't quite fit in any one country style, but its got a great cover....also I already had it digitized. So enjoy, share, let me know about the record.
